How It Works

The math behind your risk profile

Five questions turn your timeline, comfort with loss, and goals into a transparent score. Here's exactly how that score becomes a Conservative, Moderate, or Growth profile.

01 / The rule

Five answers, one transparent score.

Pick one answer in each dimension. Each answer is worth between zero and three points.

The scoring formula
total = horizon + drawdown + income + experience + goal

The current implementation uses the declared 0–3 answer score for each dimension. There are no hidden or unequal multipliers, so the five values can total 0–15.

02 / The inputs

Each dimension contributes 0–3 points.

These are the same five questions used during onboarding, in the same order and with the same answer values.

03 / The calculation

Add the five values. Nothing else.

The server adds the selected answer scores, then checks the total against the three inclusive profile bands.

One value from each dimension

Once you select one answer for each question, the five declared values are added together.

total = horizon + drawdown + income + experience + goal

0–15possible total score

Worked example

5 to 10 years (1) + About 30% (2) + Stable (2) + Some experience (1) + Steady growth (2) = 8

8 lands in the Moderate band (6–10).

04 / The result

Where the total lands decides the profile.

The bands are inclusive, so every possible total from 0 through 15 maps to one profile.

0–5

Conservative

Totals from 0–5 map to this profile.

6–10

Moderate

Totals from 6–10 map to this profile.

11–15

Growth

Totals from 11–15 map to this profile.

05 / The target mix

Each profile has a clear starting allocation.

Your profile determines the target mix WealthPilot uses as the reference point for your portfolio.
